S.E.S.H.A.T steam CONFERENCE

Genesis is an aspiring environmental professional dedicated to advancing environmental equity and justice. Originally from Fontana, California, she is a junior at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, pursuing a B.S. in Agriculture and Environmental Systems with a concentration in Environmental Studies. She participates in undergraduate research. Genesis is a dedicated campus leader, serving as the Education Co-Chair for the NCAT section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) while actively participating in MANRRS, the African Aggies Coalition, and volunteers at the NCAT Campus Child Development Lab. All her activities reflect her commitment to community service, education, and mentoring younger generations on nature restoration and sustainable solutions in marginalized communities.

Jasmine is a senior Music Business major and Classical Voice minor at Howard University. As a singer-songwriter, she is dedicated to creating music that makes people feel seen, heard, and understood. She is also the founder of LegaceexMusic LLC, a company committed to honoring the Harrell family legacy by empowering creatives through education, community, and opportunity. With experience in both the creative and business sides of the industry—including an internship with BMG and participation in Grammy U—Jasmine is passionate about bridging the gap between artistry and entrepreneurship. She hopes to inspire fellow students to pursue their creative ambitions with both purpose and strategy.

Sela is studying science and engineering at UC Berkeley. For the past two summers, she has participated in Research Experiences for Undergraduates at UC Berkeley and the University of Michigan. When she isn’t studying, Sela enjoys playing the violin, practicing martial arts, and spending time with her friends.

Gabby Reynolds is a second-year student at Harvey Mudd College, where she is pursuing a major in Engineering and potentially Biology. She is currently engaged in research at the biomaterials PoSM lab alongside a professor at Harvey Mudd College. This summer, Gabby is excited to participate in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Johns Hopkins University, further expanding her research experience. Gabby plans to pursue graduate studies in either biomedical engineering or bioengineering to ultimately develop solutions to current problems in healthcare while ensuring equity in the medical field.

Akua McLeod is a 3rd year PhD student in the Engineering and Public Policy program at Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in energy equity. She received her B.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University, where she gained the technical skills to apply engineering tools to social justice issues. Akua's work focuses on using algorithms to better understand how different communities experience electricity service loss. Her research aims to identify patterns and trends in power outages and disconnections, and to use this information to develop more effective and equitable energy policies that support a clean energy transition.
